KC AREA PRIVACY POLICY STATEMENT

It is the goal of the KC Area Credit Union to offer competitive services to enable our members to achieve their financial objectives.  One of our highest priorities is protecting our member’s personal and account information.  In addition, we request our members exercise the same level of responsibility in guarding their own financial information.

We collect information about you from the following sources:

  • Applications for loans, products or services
  • Transactions with us or others
  • Consumer reporting agencies
  • Sources listed on applications or forms you provide to us (current or past employers, references or other financial institutions)

We take very seriously our obligation to safeguard our member’s privacy.  To that end, our employees are instructed on the importance of member confidentiality.  The KC Area Credit Union will not reveal information about member accounts or other identifiable data to third parties unless one of the following criteria is met:

  1. an authorization or request is received by the member;
  2. the information requested is required to complete a transaction initiated by the member;
  3. the information is provided to a reporting agency, (i.e. a credit bureau);
  4. the information is required to comply with a government agency or a court order;
  5. the information is required to provide support or services for one of our products, (i.e. statement vendor, debit card).

We may disclose information about you or your account to the following types of third-parties:

  • Financial service providers such as insurance companies or other credit unions and banks
  • Non-financial companies such as consumer reporting agencies, data processors, check/share draft printers, financial statement publishers, plastic card processors, government agencies, collectors and employers.

The KC Area Credit Union does not sell our member lists to outside parties.

We require any third-party service or support provider to agree to safeguard the confidentiality of the member information.  Vendors must also abide by all applicable privacy laws.

Only the personal information necessary to conduct the business of the credit union will be collected from our membership.

We maintain physical, electronic, or procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your personal information.

You can protect your privacy by following a few basic guidelines:

  • Protect your account number, plastics, PINs or passwords. Never keep your PIN with your plastic.
  • Use caution when disclosing your account number or SSN to third-parties.
  • Keep your information with us current. If your address or contact information changes, please let us know. It is important to keep your information with us current so that we may reach you. If we detect or are informed of fraudulent or unauthorized activity on your account we will attempt to contact you immediately.

The KC Area Credit Union reserves the right to use information provided by members to protect our membership and us.  We may also use personal information to identify, communicate or respond to questions or concerns posed by our membership.
